Kern County Fair

It's fair time again!  It had actually been a few years since we had made it out to the fair, but I was so excited to take Katelyn this year.  We had fun watching her take it all in.  She was a bit overwhelmed when we first got there.  The whole way there we had been talking about what we were going to see at the fair, mostly listing all the animals that would be there.  She started saying HORSIE! and from the moment we got there, that was all she wanted to see.  We really didn't find horses (are they not usually part of the fair?!) but we did see the cows, pigs, goats, bunnies, chickens, and best of all...the petting zoo!

Not too sure about the goats!

This llama was HILARIOUS!  It liked to just come up behind you and stick its head in your face!  I was so surprised that Katelyn wasn't scared of this guy!

After getting our animal fix, we (washed our hands) grabbed a bite to eat.  Fair food...soooo many completely unhealthy, delicious choices!

Katelyn had some chill cheese fries, I had a pastrami sandwich with sauerkraut (mmmm....amazing!), and Steve had a Rueben sandwich.

And for dessert, there is no way I'm leaving the fair without FUNNEL CAKE!!

Then we headed over to the games and rides.  I wasn't sure how Kate would like the rides, but she loved them!  She even rode on a few by herself and had so much fun.  She also won a flying helicopter at one of the game booths (well...daddy won it technically!).

And finally home...(grabbed a glow necklace on the way out)...to our sweet little Luke who had no idea any of this was going on!  Next year, buddy!

Twinkle Star

Katelyn's favorite two songs are Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (she leaves out the "little") and the ABC song.  She sings them ALL the time...in the car, walking around the house, in bed before or after naps.  She also loves serenading her little brother!  I love how hard she tries to get all the sounds and words right. My favorite is her version of "LMNOP"....sounds more like "eneneneP".  Her "W" is pretty funny too!  She constantly amazes me with how quickly she picks things up.

Fall Cookies

I'm always looking for new entertainment ideas for Katelyn and with Fall soon approaching I was in the mood to bake!  The Target dollar bins had fun fall cookie cutters and sprinkles (pretty good deal!).  So I thought I'd try cookie decorating with Katelyn today after her nap.  I had everything ready to go when she woke up and was excited to see what she would think of it.  As soon as she heard the word "cookie" her whole face lit up!  Of course, she was thinking more about eating a cookie than decorating one!  It started off pretty smooth...

After I showed her how to frost, I let her try by herself an this is where the frosting ended up!

Mom....are you really gonna let me do this??

I think it's a hit!

A close up of her masterpiece...

Pure delight...

And all day long since then, "Mommy...I want some more cookie!"

Shell's Wedding

My little sister got married this past weekend.  I am so happy for her and Zach, they are a perfect match and make a beautiful couple.  The wedding was a blast, down in San Diego.  Everyone stayed at the Loews (a stinkin nice hotel!) and the wedding took place on Coronado Island at a yacht club.  It was a perfect day and a fabulous celebration for the beginning of a great life together!

Zach's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at such a fun restaurant right on the water.  We all sat outside warmed by fire pits and entertained by a live band.  Katelyn couldn't get enough of the dancing!

The whole gang (left to right): Katelyn, Steve, Monique, Luke, Zach, Michelle, Colette, Perry, Paul, Brooke

Luke is ready for the beach!

Left to right: Monique, Janelle, Kari, Julie (hair girl), Jen, Brooke
Michelle gave all the girls a coral silk robe to wear when we were getting ready, so fun!  Oh, and we all had matching flip-flops too (didn't get a picture of those).  Brooke made mimosas and breakfast for everyone, yummy!

On the balcony of the suite that all the bridesmaids took over for the day!

Are those awesome, or what?? (yes, she brought flip-flops for the reception!)

All ready for the big day!  This was on the way to the "reveal" location where Zach and Michelle first saw each other.  It was so sweet, we all teared up, of course!

In the lobby of the Loews Hotel.

My beautiful sister and I.  This was at Centennial Park on Coronado Island, the place where we took all the pre-wedding pictures.

The bridal party (left to right): Jen, Janelle, Kari, Brooke, Libby (Zach's sis), Monique, Michelle, Zach, Kenny, Trevor, Paul, Steve J., Steve M., (i totally blanked on the last guy...oops!)

Katelyn loves her auntie!  I think she thought Michelle was some kind of Disney princess!

Katelyn was a beautiful flower girl.  She did great walking up the isle with me, but as soon as we got to the front, she turned to me and yelled "Mommy, UPPIE!!" (pick me up).  So she sat with Grammie (aka Monkey) in the front row for most of the ceremony.  Luke got to hang out with Nana and Papa in the back.

Check out that background!!  It was such a sweet ceremony, you can tell they are SO in love!

Those are all the pics I have for now, I know the photographers got some amazing shots which I can't wait to see.  Somehow in the craziness of the day (which is an understatement with a 7-week old and a toddler), I forgot to take a picture of Luke in his adorable outfit.  He had a custom-made white onesie with a sewn-on tie and suspenders!  It was pretty adorable!  This is the closest pic I can find...he even had little sock-shoes to match!
